Janet’s Journeys is once again taking the road less travelled, and bringing you guys along to two places off the beaten track, but rich in culture, history and impeccable landscapes. We are going to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan!! That’s right, 2 countries in ONE TRIP.

Day 1: Tashkent


You will be greeted and picked up by your transfer at Tashkent International Airport and brought to your hotel.
We kickstart the first day of our trip on a sightseeing tour at the capital city of Uzbekistan. We will visit Hazrati Imom Complex, the Spiritual heart of Tashkent, Amir Temurs square, Museum of Applied Arts and Chorsu bazaar, one of the busiest bazaars in Tashkent!
Day 2: Bukhara


Today, we take a train to Bukhara; central Asia’s holiest city, and have an exciting day of visiting some of Uzbekistan’s oldest and most famous buildings spanning a thousand years of history.
We begin our day of sightseeing at the city of Islam and Culture. Throughout the day we will visit:
- Samanid mausoleum, Chashmai Ayyub mausoleum
- Ark fortress citadel of Kings and Khans
- Poi Kalon complex
- Miri Arab Madrasa
- Ulugbek Madrasa
Day 3: Samarkand



We spend day three finishing off exploring Bukhara, by visiting the rest of the stunning buildings, monuments and places rich in culture that it has to offer.
Highlights include:
- Labi Hauz Complex
- Chor Minor
- Kukaldash madrasah
- Magoki Atoori mosque oldest in Bukhara
- Tim Abdulla Khan Trading
In the evening we take a 1.5 hour train to Samarkand, where we spend the evening enjoying a delicious dinner and preparing for tomorrow’s adventure.
Day 4: Samarkand



Day 4 is spent exploring Samarkand highlights!
We spend the day visiting:
- Timurids dynasty
- Guri Amir
- Mausoleum of Timurids Dynasty
- Registan square
- Bibi Khanum Mosque
- Siab Bazaar oldest and still operating bazaar
- Shahi Zinda Complex

Day 5: Samarkand
We will start day 5 heading to Ulugbek observatory, which is the centre of astronomical study in central Asia. We will visit Mausoleum of Hodja Daniyar, where three world religions will come to visit Judaism, Islam and Christianity.
Next, we will stop at at Konigil ancient paper factory, where the ancient factory of paper for writing was built at the beginning of the 8th century
In the evening, we take the train to Tashkent .
Day 6: –Bishkek

It’s time to finish up in Uzbekistan and head to beautiful Kyrgyzstan! We head to the airport and take a flight to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
We head to the ancient monument, Burana Tower. Afterwards, we keep our way towards the stunning Chon Kemin valley. This unique place will wow you with its unbelievable beauty and rich diversity of fauna and flora. You will be blown away by the stunning landscape! We can hike up and enjoy the beautiful alpine views.
Day 7: Cholpon Ata / Issyk Kol
We leave in the direction of Issyk Kol Lake, the largest lake in the country and considered the pearl of Kyrgyzstan.
Arriving in Tcholpon Ata, we have lunch then visit the petroglyph museum located in the open air. Cholpon Ata is where we will have the opportunity to warm ourselves in hot springs!
Staying in a beautiful hotel by the lake, we can spend the day resting on the beach, swimming in the lake and taking in the breathtaking landscape. We also have a boat ride planned for the evening!
Day 8: Grigoriev and Semienov gorge – Karakol

After breakfast, we go towards Grigoriev and Semenov gorge, which are located on the northern shore of Issyk Kul Lake. They are considered the most famous attractions in the Issyk Kul!
We drive to the first lake at Grigoriev Gorge where we will enjoy a lovely picnic on the shore.
We can have a walk, and enjoy the wild nature around us.
At Karakol, we will visit its famous sights such as the Russian Orthodox cathedral and Dungan mosque.
Day 9: Karakol – Jety Oguz – Barskoon – Skazka – Bokonbaevo



After breakfast, we leave for the gorge of Jety Oguz. We spend our morning taking a leisurely walk at the ocher rock (called Broken Heart) which gives a romantic touch to this magical place.
In the afternoon, we will enjoy a picnic in classic Kyrgatsan style, in a yurt!
After lunch, we head to Barskoon gorge, which is famous for its waterfalls. We will see the famous waterfall ‘The Tears of a Leopard’, then stopping off to view Skazka canyons.
Upon arrival in Bokonbaevo, we have a unique experience planned where hunters will show us their eagles and the process of hunting with them.

Day 10: Bishkek
After breakfast, we will pass through the town of Balykchy, then we will drive along the Boom Gorge.
We will have a relaxed day walking, shopping and chilling!
Day 11: Departure
We finish up our 10 day trip to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan and get a transfer to the airport for our onward travels.

Throughout our stay in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, we will stay in a mixture of hotels and guesthouses. The full hotel list will be available once the 12 spaces are booked, and I assure you you’re gonna love every single place!
All rooms on all trips are shared. We will partner you with an adventure buddy – an amazing way to make new friends! You’ll be moved around to pair up with a new friend every couple of nights.

Your deposit is non refundable.
For the balance of your payment, I can refund you the full amount (minus your deposit) up to 8 weeks before the trip begins should you have an emergency / illness / need to cancel. Anything closer than 8 weeks, I cannot refund you.
I suggest you take out travel insurance that covers trip cancellations, that way should something happen like you get Covid, you will get a full payout from your insurance company.
Visas
Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan are VISA FREE for MOST Western nations, but obviously best to check for yourself depending on what passport you are using.
