Get ready for COLOMBIA!!

The land of the extremes, vibrant, colourful and with a reputation for throwing the best parties! From food tours, and salsa classes to tropical beaches, this is a jam-packed itinerary exploring all that the big and wonderful Colombia has to offer!

This is going to be the ultimate South American adventure: 10 days of hiking, mouth-watering foods, magical towns, vibrant dancing and finishing up on the Caribbean coast!

Accommodation

Throughout our stay in Colombia, we will stay in a mixture of 3 and 4-star hotels. The full hotel list will be available once the 12 spaces are booked, and I assure you you’re gonna love every single place!

All rooms on all trips are shared, with 2 people in each room. We will partner you with an adventure buddy – an amazing way to make new friends! You’ll be moved around to pair up with a new friend every couple of nights.

All rooms will be twin-sharing, private rooms, not dorms! 

Itinerary

Day 1 - Bogota

Today the group will fly into Bogota.

Airport transfers will be arranged for everyone and depending on your arrival time, we’ll organize a city tour in the afternoon taking in La Candelaria – the oldest and most colourful district in the city. In the evening., we’ll have our first group dinner at a local restaurant as the group gets to know one another.

Day 2 - 5: Coffee Region

Today we take a domestic flight to Armenia, Colombia’s famous coffee region. This is an opportunity to visit some of Colombias best coffee farms and plantations, to stay in a traditional hacienda and to go hiking in one of the most spectacular landscapes in the country: the Cocora Valley.

While in Salento for 2 nights we’ll be doing a jeep tour of the surrounding countryside, hiking through the valley and exploring this quaint country village before our bus takes us overland towards Medellin.

We break up the journey by staying one night in a colourful village in another part of the coffee region, en roure to Medellin. Jerico is the oldest town in the region and you’ll surely love its charm!

Day 5 - 8: Medellin

Welcome to Medellin!

Day 5: Our bus will leave Jerico early in the morning as we finish up the drive to Medellin.

We’ll spend the afternoon on a walking tour of Medellin and our night getting a taste of the cities amazing nightlife!

After breakfast on day 6, we start our Medellin adventure and go on the Afro Flow Special Tour where we will discover how the Afro flavor is present in Medellin. Your guide is part of this community and will make you feel like you are too! We will walk around the neighborhoods listening to their stories and then enjoy a unique percussion workshop with the Son Batá group.

An amazing chance to visit Comuna 13 – an area that was once one of the most dangerous places to live in the world!

On Day 7, we’ll be doing a 3 hour drive out to Guatape – one of the most colourful and unique towns in all of Colombia and here we’ll be staying in a luxury hotel overlooking the lake.

Complete with rainbow houses, panoramic viewpoints and the opportunity to climb up Piedra del peñol – one of the most famous rock formations in the country. We’ll spend 1 night here before departing the next morning to catch our flight to Cartagena.

Day 8 - 10: Cartagena

We leave Medellin and hop on a short flight to the exciting city of Cartagena! We can spend the afternoon roaming around the cobblestone streets of Cartagena’s old town, which is actually a UNESCO World Heritage Site!

Visit the impressive fortress of Castillo San Felipe de Barajas or the Convent of La Popa; a beautiful convent perched on top of a hill overlooking the city and offers panoramic views of Cartagena and the Caribbean Sea.

On day 9, an early departure from our hotel towards La Boquilla. Arrival in this fishing village where an Afro-Carthaginian community lives. Today we are going to discover Colombian folk music through a traditional drum workshop which makes you discover the rhythms of Cumbia, Mapalé, among other rythms of the region.

During the morning we will also take a canoe trip in the mangroves, an amazing natural site for the observation of the numerous species of birds. 

In the afternoon, it’s dress up time for a walking tour around one of South America’s most colourful colonial cities. Join your guide to discover all of the stunning corners of Cartagena.

Day 10…time to explore Colombia’s tropical Carribbean paradise! We will spend the day at Rosario Islands, a charming group of islands surrounded by turquoise waters, white sand beaches and beautiful coral reefs.  Today is about sippin’ cocktails, relaxing and exploring…and enjoying our private cruise!

Day 11 - Departure Day

Day 11 is departure day!

Please note this tout starts in BOGOTA and ends in Cartagena. You can either book 2 one-way flights or book return flights to Bogota and book a cheap domestic flight from Cartagena to Bogota on the final day before your international flight.

Terms and Conditions

Your deposit is non refundable.

For the balance of your payment, I can refund you the full amount (minus your deposit) up to 8 weeks before the trip begins should you have an emergency / illness / need to cancel.

Anything closer than 8 weeks, I cannot refund you. I suggest you take out travel insurance that covers trip cancellations, that way should something happen like you get Covid, you will get a full payout from your insurance company.
