Welcome to another of our exciting Mexican adventures!
Join us as we embark on an 8-day epic journey immersing ourselves in local culture, enjoying mouthwatering food and exploring the vibrant and colourful country of Mexico!
This journey will take us from the bustling streets of Mexico City to the charming colonial town of Oaxaca and the pristine shores of Puerto Escondido, not to mention experiencing the magic of the Day of the Dead festivities!
After two hugely successful trips last year, Janet’s Journeys is ready to bring you on another unforgettable exploration of one of my favourite destinations!

Accommodation
Throughout our stay in Mexico, we will stay in a mixture of 3* and 4* hotels.
All rooms on all trips are shared, with 2 people in each room. We will partner you with an adventure buddy – an amazing way to make new friends! You’ll be moved around to pair up with a new friend every couple of nights.
All rooms will be twin sharing, private rooms.
Itinerary
Day 1 - Mexico City
Our Mexico adventure begins in the colourful capital Mexico City! One of the biggest cities in the world, full of great food, and beautiful architecture.
As we arrive, we head straight to the City Centre. We will go on a walking Tour to Zócalo (Main Square) where preparations for the Day of the Dead will be. We can witness the bustling streets, colourful markets, and stunning architecture that define Mexico City.
Today we will also explore the magnificent Cathedral, the Templo Mayor( ancient Aztec ruins) and the Palacio de Bellas Artes.
We will stroll through the historic Alameda, one of the city’s oldest parks, and visit the Torre Latinoamericana, a massive skyscraper that is a major landmark in Mexico City.
Day 2 - Mexico City
Our second day will be spent on an exciting Xochimilco boat trip! Xochimilco is named a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its canals stretching more than 100 square miles. It’s an area of stunning natural and cultural beauty. We can journey down the Xochimilco canals in colourful trajinera boats!
The festive ambience will be peaked as we join the renowned Day of the Dead Parade in the heart of the City Centre. This cultural event showcases Mexico’s rich cultural heritage with vibrant costumes, captivating music, and elaborate floats covered with marigolds, the symbolic flowers of the Day of the Dead.

Day 3 - Mexico City
Our third day in Mexico City consists of a full day tour of the Teotihuacan pyramids.
We get to go back in time as we explore the iconic Teotihuacan pyramids, one of the most significant archaeological sites in the world. We can climb to the top taking in the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
Day 4 - Oaxaca
Today we head to Oaxaca for thr start of Day of the Dead celebrations, the highlight of this group tour.
Once we arrive in Oaxaca, we will have a welcome dinner and drinks and prepare for the day we’ve all been waiting for – The Day of the Dead!
The streets will vbe full of colourful decorations and we can have free time to explore, get some drinks etc
Day 5 - Oaxaca
It’s Day of the Dead day!
Today we will start the day on a Walking Tour in the City Centre & Markets.
Then the day promises an immersive exploration of Oaxaca’s City Centre and vibrant markets. We’ll embark on a Walking Tour around Mexico’s most beautiful states, wander through the charming streets, adorned with colourful tapestries made of flowers, as the spirit of the Day of the Dead envelops the city.
The day will be dedicated to indulging in the exciting festivities that surround this celebration. We will have a day of celebrating, having fun, enjoying this massive cultural event!
Day 6 - Oaxaca
Day 6, we venture out for an early visit to Hierve El Agua, a breathtaking natural rock formation of stunning waterfalls. We also visit the Tule Tree, and explore the ruins of this UNESCO World Heritage site Monte Albán.
This will be a full day trip out of Oaxaca, exploring small textile villages and historica sites…and tequila tasting!
Day 7 + 8 - Puerto Escondido
As our group trip to Mexico reaches its final leg, we find ourselves in the coastal paradise of Puerto Escondido.
We will check into our stunning accomodation near the beach and start the day enjoying laid-back beach vibes and soaking up the warm sunshine.
Over these few days we can relax, chill, surf, go beach hopping and explore all that this Mexican tropical paradise has to offer.
This area is famous for its secluded beaches and epic surf breaks, and will you a chnace to experience true backpacker vibes in Mexico and some fun nightlife too.
Day 9 - Fly home
Our Mexican adventure comes to an end, and we will all head to catch our flights home.
You can get an international flight at Puerto Escondido International Airport or get a domestic flight to Cancun or Mexico city then an international flight home.

Your deposit is non refundable.
For the balance of your payment, I can refund you the full amount (minus your deposit) up to 8 weeks before the trip begins should you have an emergency / illness / need to cancel.
Anything closer than 8 weeks, I cannot refund you. I suggest you take out travel insurance that covers trip cancellations, that way should something happen like you get Covid, you will get a full payout from your insurance company.
