SOCOTRA GROUP TRIP UNDER TREEE

About Us

Janet’s Journeys is a travel community that aims to push people out of their comfort zone, travel off the beaten path, and make lifelong friendships along the way. Community and friendship are at the core of our mission, as is helping people visit new, lesser-known destinations in a fun and safe way.

While we try to be as inclusive as possible, most trips attract solo, female travellers aged 25 to 40, all of whom share a real thirst for adventure and are happy to take constant detours off the itinerary!

We like to think we’re different because of our unique method for selecting the right people to join our tours, rather than allowing anyone to sign up and pay. This way, we ensure the right people join the right adventures, and the perfect mix of personalities is chosen, helping to form lifelong friendships and endless laughs on every trip.

Group Trip Reviews

What some of our recent adventurers have said about Janets Journeys

How Did It Start?

Janet’s Journeys started, by accident, in September 2021, when Janet’s Instagram followers became enthralled by her trip to Iraq, just after the borders had reopened to tourism after almost 20 years. With so many people requesting a group trip to Iraq, the idea of hosting small group adventures to off-the-beaten-path destinations was born!

In the first year since its accidental founding, we brought over 140 adventurers, about 90% of whom were Irish, on group trips to Iraq, Jordan, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Mexico, Namibia, South Africa, and Indonesia!

This year, we’re set to run group adventures on 6 out of 7 continents!

FAQ’s

Please get in touch if you have any specific questions about our trips or itineraries.

How do I book my spot on a Janet's Journeys trip?

Head to the Trips page and click the BOOK NOW button on your chosen trip. You’ll be taken to our secure booking platform, WeTravel, where you can reserve your spot with a €750 deposit.

The remaining balance is split into two equal payments, due 2 and 3 months before departure.

WeTravel offers a range of payment options, with transaction fees depending on your preferred method.

If you need a custom payment plan, just reach out. We’re always happy to help make it work.

Who can book a Janet's Journeys trip?

While we welcome travellers of all ages, most of our guests tend to be in their 20s to mid-40s. That said, we’ve had people join us well beyond that, including guests in their 70s.

Most of our trips are female-only, but we do open up certain destinations to men (for example, Iraq and Antarctica). This will always be clearly stated on the trip page, or you’re welcome to email us to check.

How can I know what trips are happening next year?

Sign up to our newsletter and follow our Instagram page for updates!

How does the payment schedule work?

To secure your spot, you’ll pay a deposit when booking through WeTravel. Depending on the trip, this ranges from €750-€1,000.

The remaining balance is split into two equal payments, due 3 months and 2 months before your trip.

You can also make smaller payments at any time through WeTravel from the moment you book, which makes it easy to spread things out. You’ll receive email reminders ahead of each upcoming payment, so nothing sneaks up on you.

If you need a more flexible plan, just reach out. We’re always happy to work with you to make your travel dreams happen.

After I pay my deposit, and secure my spot, what happens next?

Once you’ve secured your spot, you’ll receive a Welcome Booklet with everything you need to get started. This includes key details, such as which airport to fly into, along with a few forms to fill out.

Around 4–5 months before the trip, we’ll create a private WhatsApp group so everyone can get to know each other and chat about flights, packing, and plans.

At 60 days out, you’ll receive a detailed Information Packet with everything you need to know, including your final itinerary, hotel details, packing lists, and a bit more insight into where you’re going and what to expect.

Then, about a month before departure, we’ll host a Zoom call to run through everything and answer any last-minute questions.

If I cancel my trip, can I get my payment back (besides the deposit)?

Yes — all payments (excluding your deposit) are fully refundable up to 3 months before your departure date.

After that point, payments become non-refundable, as we’re unable to fill spots at short notice and have commitments in place with our local partners.

Do we need to buy travel insurance?

Yes — travel insurance is compulsory for all of our trips.

It’s the only way to protect your investment, particularly as deposits are non-refundable and payments become non-refundable closer to departure.

We’ll share a few trusted Irish and international providers to make choosing a policy easy.
