Itinerary

Day 1 - Cairo

Welcome to Egypt!

Our adventure begins in Giza, where we’ll kick things off with a poolside gathering to get acquainted. We recommend arriving before 3 PM to take advantage of the hotel’s facilities.

Later, we’ll head out to get our first glimpse of the Pyramids as the sun begins to set. We will have a meal on a rooftop overlooking the Sphinx and watch as the pyramids light up before our eyes!

Pinch me, we’re in Egypt!

Meals Included: Dinner

Day 2 - Cairo / Pyramids

After breakfast, it’s time to get up close and personal with the Pyramids!

Kick off the day by standing face-to-face with these legendary monuments and the ever-mysterious Sphinx. Snap those jaw-dropping photos, soak in the ancient vibes, and maybe even imagine what it felt like to build these marvels. Once you’ve filled your heart (and camera roll), we’ll refuel at a local hotspot serving up some of Egypt’s tastiest dishes.

Next, we’re diving into the past, literally, at the spectacularly modern Grand Egyptian Museum, packed with treasures that would make Cleopatra herself swoon.

As the day winds down, we will grab dinner at what is an unmissable Cairo institution (you’ll see why!) and head to the airport for our flight to Aswan.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 3 - Aswan

You’ll awaken in the city of Aswan and have breakfast before we head to Philae Temple, an ancient masterpiece perched on its own island. After soaking in the history, we’ll take a boat to a picture-perfect riverside spot for lunch.

In the afternoon, we will visit local artisans who craft papyrus into paper, the same technique that has been used for centuries.

Head back to our colourful Nubian Village hotel for a photo shoot, where we will snap photos in your brightest outfits, or unwind by the Nile, overlooking the desert & water.

As the sun sets, we will join some local Nubians for a lesson in Arabic and a lively Henna Party filled with food, laughter and dancing.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 4 - Aswan

Rise and shine, it’s an early start for a journey to what we believe is Egypt’s crown jewel, Abu Simbel! Marvel at this awe-inspiring masterpiece of ancient engineering and soak in the grandeur before the desert sun gets too intense.

Afterwards, hop back on the bus as we head to our felucca, where a yummy lunch awaits. Spend the afternoon gliding lazily down the Nile, letting the gentle breeze and stunning scenery set the perfect mood. Did you know this is how Cleopatra herself would travel in Egypt!

As evening falls, our local hosts will prepare a delicious dinner by the fire. Under a sky full of stars, we’ll share stories, have a drink or two and let the magic of the Nile surround us.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner

Day 5 - Luxor

Wake up to the soothing sounds of the Nile and enjoy breakfast under the warm Egyptian sun before we make our way back to land.

Today, we’re heading to Luxor, with a late morning stop at Karnak Temple. The largest temple in all of Egypt, it is a sprawling complex dedicated to the gods and famed for its towering columns, intricate hieroglyphics, and Sacred Lake.

We’ll enjoy a delicious lunch before checking into a hotel you won’t soon forget. Think marble floors, a pool that looks like it flows straight into the Nile, a full spa with a gym and some jaw-dropping service.

As the sun sets, we’ll head out to see the majestic Luxor Temple illuminated against the night sky, a truly magical sight.

Dinner will follow at a rooftop restaurant with incredible views of Sphinx Alley, where you can even try camel if you’re feeling daring!

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner

Day 6 - Luxor

Rise & Shine because today is a big one!

Begin your day with a hot air balloon ride over the Valley of the Kings and Queens, soaking in breathtaking views at sunrise. After breakfast, it’s time for another vantage point as we step into the enchanting tombs of the Valley of the Kings. Next, marvel at the architectural splendour of Hatshepsut’s Temple – known as the largest outdoor museum

Following a delicious lunch at a beloved local eatery, we’ll visit the towering Colossi of Memnon and then browse unique creations crafted by local artisans.

We will return to the hotel to freshen up before our last dinner at an old colonial home-turned-restaurant.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 7 - Departure Day

Take it slow this morning—you’ve earned it!

We’ll arrange a transfer to Luxor airport to help you catch your flights back home, sad face.

Meals Included: Breakfast

FAQ & Itinerary Note:

This itinerary, as always, is open to small changes depending on the weather, flights, etc. Fear not, if we have to make any adjustments, it will be to swap something out with an equally, if not better, experience!

Please note: this trip begins in Cairo and ends in Luxor so you will need to book your flights accordingly. We recommend booking a return flight from Cairo and a domestic flight from Luxor to Cairo that best fits your itinerary. You will be welcome to spend the day at the hotel using its ammenities before having to leave for the airport.

I'm ready! How do I book?

Ready to embark on an unforgettable adventure in Egypt? Click the BOOK NOW button to head to our payment portal and secure your spot with a €750 deposit. The remaining balance will be divided into two equal payments due 2 and 3 months before departure.

Need a custom payment plan? No problem! Reach out to us, and we’ll create a plan that works best for you. Remember, spots are booked on a first-come, first-served basis, so don’t wait!

How many people are on the trip?

This trip requires a minimum number of guests to proceed, and this minimum must be met at least 4 months before departure to be guaranteed. If the minimum number of guests is not met by then, a full refund will be issued.

Expect to travel with 6-14 new friends!

Why are deposits non-refundable?

The deposit for your trip is non-refundable due to several important factors. Firstly, when you book a spot, we immediately begin the process of planning and preparing for your journey. This involves engaging staff who work diligently behind the scenes to ensure every aspect of your trip is meticulously organised. These preparations often involve upfront costs that are incurred from the moment your booking is confirmed. Additionally, by requiring a non-refundable deposit, we aim to ensure that all participants are committed to the trip.

We understand that plans can change, which is why we insist all travellers have trip insurance to cover unforeseen circumstances that might affect their ability to participate.

What about my other payments? Are they refundable?

All payments, except your deposit, are fully refundable three months prior to the departure date. After the three-month mark, any payments made are non-refundable. This is because we are usually unable to find a replacement at such short notice, and have contracts in place with our vendors that need to be fulfilled.

Again, we strongly recommend all travellers have travel insurance so that they can refund you should your plans change. At the end of the day, we are a small business, and we want nothing more than to continue showing our guests the world. We hope you understand the importance of adhering strictly to this policy.

How much money will I need for non-included meals, alcohol, and souvenirs?

All meals are included in the itinerary, but they do not include drinks. You can expect to spend €1-3 for soft drinks or juice. Since Egypt is a predominantly Muslim country, alcohol can be pricey and isn’t always readily available. Expect to pay €10-15 for cocktails and wine, and €4-6 for beer.

Egypt’s markets are filled with unique treasures, from intricate jewelry to stunning textiles. While some travelers are more frugal, others indulge in the incredible shopping. Most vendors accept cards, so you can adjust your spending based on your preferences.

How does tipping work?

To make things smooth and stress-free, we will be collecting a kitty of €50-100 at the beginning of the trip. This ensures all of our incredible on-the-ground vendors are taken care of, including guides, drivers, meals, and activities that are listed in your itinerary.

For any additional meals or personal expenses not included in the itinerary, you should expect to pay a separate tip. We will guide you on what is appropriate throughout the trip so you feel confident and comfortable.

How physically demanding is the trip?

This trip involves lots of walking around historical sites so comfy shoes are manadatory. The Egyptian heat can be challenging for some, though it’s generally more manageable in late October. If you’re sensitive to heat, staying hydrated and wearing light clothing will make all the difference.

Can dietary restrictions be accommodated?

Absolutely! Egypt’s cuisine offers something for everyone, and dietary needs are easily accommodated. Falafel is a favourite snack and a must-try while you’re here!

Let us know your dietary requirements ahead of time, and we’ll ensure your meals are tailored to your needs.

What if I want my own room?

We believe that rooming is one of the best parts of the experience. It feels a little like adult summer camp and has always been a highlight for our guests, with nothing but positive feedback in the past.

That being said, if you feel that sharing does not suit your travel style, we are happy to discuss the option of a single room supplement. Simply reach out to us at janetsgrouptrips@gmail.com and we will do our best to accommodate you.

What are the health and vaccination requirements?

None are required but feel free to consult with your GP or a travel doctor if you want.

Some travellers like to pack anti-diarrhea medication as a precaution, especially if trying unfamiliar foods. Staying hydrated and practicing good hygiene, such as using hand sanitizer and drinking bottled water, will help you stay comfortable and healthy throughout the trip.

Who’s leading the trip?

Your adventure will be led by Shannon, who has visited Egypt six times and collaborated with her trusted on-the-ground guide to refine this perfectly curated itinerary. With her expertise and deep passion for Egyptian culture, Shannon brings a unique perspective to this journey.
